Ibrahim Abdi Shermarke

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics in July 2012. In August 2012, he was appointed Principal of Bursalah Secondary School, where he has provided effective academic and administrative leadership while promoting high standards of teaching and learning.

In 2018, Mr. Shermarke completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics at Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, strengthening his expertise in physics education, scientific research, and higher education.

In April 2019, Mr. Shermarke joined the Board of Directors of the Bursalah Community Development Organization (BCDO). In July 2020, he was appointed Executive Director of the organization, providing strategic leadership for education, institutional development, youth empowerment, and community initiatives. In May 2026, he rejoined the Board of Directors of BCDO, continuing to contribute to its governance and strategic direction.

In October 2024, Mr. Shermarke was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Puntland University of Science and Technology (PUST). In this role, he provides strategic leadership for academic planning, curriculum development, quality assurance, research, faculty development, accreditation, and the enhancement of teaching and learning. He works collaboratively with faculty, students, and stakeholders to strengthen academic standards and support the University's mission of producing highly competent graduates.

Mr. Shermarke is recognized for his integrity, visionary leadership, and dedication to educational excellence. His professional interests include higher education leadership, physics education, quality assurance, curriculum development, research, institutional management, and community development. He remains committed to advancing innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable educational development in Puntland, Somalia, and beyond.
