Mr. Abdirashid Abdullahi Abshir (Dhacarbe)

Mr. Abdirashid Abdullahi Abshir (Dhacarbe) serves as Director of the Research and Development Center at Puntland University of Science and Technology (PUST). In this role, he guides the university's research strategy—supporting faculty projects, graduate scholarship, ethical review, and partnerships that connect academic inquiry with regional development priorities. He also lectures in the Faculty of Health Science, Department of Clinical Nursing and Midwifery, where he mentors students toward safe, evidence-based clinical practice.

From 2015 to December 2018, he founded and administered the College of Health Science, establishing its academic programmes and overseeing daily operations while continuing to teach. Today, he serves Mudug Regional Hospital (MRH) as a Health Educator, contributing to community health education, staff professional development, and public-health awareness across the region.

He holds a Bachelor of Public Health from Midco Bio-Medical College, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2014); a Master's in Health Management from the International Telematic University, Rome, Italy; and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from Jigjiga University, Ethiopia (2021). His expertise spans epidemiology, health systems management, medical education, and institutional capacity building.

Through the Research and Development Center, he works to strengthen research governance, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensure findings inform policy and practice in Puntland. His leadership reflects a long-standing commitment to advancing healthcare education and building a culture of rigorous, community-relevant research at PUST.
